Sessions, Funding and Fees
At Graven Hill Preschool, we offer a flexible, nurturing early years provision for children aged 2–4. Our session structure, funding options and fees ensure that families can access high‑quality early education that meets their needs.
Our Session Structure
We offer three daily sessions during term time:
Session 1 – 8.30am-11.30am – this session is included in funded hours. Parents who are not entitled to government funded hours have to pay for this session. For families not eligible for funded hours, these sessions are charges at £7 per hour.
Session 2 - 11.30 - 2.30pm – this session is included in funded hours. Parents who are not entitled to government funded hours have to pay for this session. For families not eligible for funded hours, these sessions are charges at £7 per hour.
Session 3 - 2.30pm - 3pm – this session can be paid for using 15 hour or 30 hour funding provided that those hours have not already been used elsewhere. If this session takes you above your funded entitlement, a charge of £3.50 will be paid in advance.
Funded Places
We accept all government early education funding:
2‑Year‑Old Funding
Some 2‑year‑olds are eligible for funded early years education.
Universal 15 Hours (age 3–4)
All children qualify for 15 hours per week from the term after their 3rd birthday.
Extended 30 Hours (age 3–4)
Some working families may qualify for an additional 15 hours, giving 30 hours total.
Families must apply through the government's childcare service.
Split Funding
Families may divide their funded hours between our Preschool and other childcare providers.
No Mandatory Charges
There are no required payments for children accessing funded hours.

Tax-Free Childcare
Eligible families can use Tax-Free Childcare, where the government contributes 20% towards childcare costs (up to £2,000 per child per year).
You can apply for both 30-hour funding and Tax-Free Childcare via the government’s childcare website.
Registration
Before your child starts Preschool, we ask families to complete a registration. Forms are available to download from our website or collect from the school office. Once we receive your registration, we will arrange a settling-in ‘stay and play’ session for you and your child.
