Governors

Governors sit on our Academy Committee which forms an important part of the Governance structure of the Warriner Multi Academy Trust. Its responsibilities are those delegated to it by the Trustees of the WMAT, the most important being the scrutiny of our curriculum offer and our attainment data. It also works strategically in partnership with the head teacher and staff to identify the most important aspects of the school that need to be improved, approving plans to achieve this and ensuring progress

Essential skills for governors to have:

  • A strong commitment to the role and to improving outcomes for children
  • An ability to work positively with others as part of a team
  • An ability to challenge effectively within meetings
  • A willingness to develop their knowledge and understanding of their role and of the key issues and priorities facing schools

Useful skills/experience for governors to have:

  • Experience in analysing performance data
  • Experience in professional leadership or experience of Chairing Governing Bodies or committees
  • Experience in performance management
  • Experience in PR and Marketing.
