Admissions

We warmly welcome new families to Graven Hill Primary and Preschool. Whether you're moving into the area or exploring school options, we would be delighted to show you what makes our school a special place to learn and grow. Contact us to arrange a visit or to speak to our friendly team about available places.

All information relating to admission at Graven Hill Primary and Preschool can be found on our policy page here

All our schools have an inclusive admissions policy which requires a school to admit pupils on the basis of postcode, after looked-after and SEN children are appropriately placed. Our existing admissions policy is available on request.

The MAT acts as its own admission authority but continues to buy the services of the LA. The MAT scheme of delegation determines that all school governing bodies have an Admissions Committee to oversee all aspects of the school’s roll.

The objectives of the admissions policy are to:

  • Meet the requirements of the School Admissions Code 2014, Oxfordshire’s Coordinated Admissions Scheme and, when appropriate, the Oxfordshire Fair Access Protocol.
  • Protect the interests of key stakeholders (current staff and students, potential students and their families and potential students and their families who already have a sibling at the school).
  • Meet the needs of students from beyond the designated catchment area to both meet the requirements of Fair Access and enable the school to remain as close to its published numbers as possible.

Applications for September 2025 Reception Places

If your child was born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021, then you have until 5pm on 15th January 2025 to submit your application for their primary school place in Reception. There’s a range of useful information on the Oxfordshire County Council website to help you apply, including a list of all local schools, a priority area map and a handy video to help you make realistic choices of schools. For these and guidance on how to apply, visit https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/schools/apply-school-place

If you are applying from another home Local Authority, you should apply directly through them.

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below. In addition, you are welcome to contact us for an informal chat or to arrange to have a look around the school.

If you have not been allocated a Reception place September 2025, you can appeal the decision. The timetable for appeals is as follows:

  • Primary Offers Day –  16th April 2025
  • Deadline for lodging appeals - 2nd June 2025
