Governors
We are seeking members of the community who would be interested in helping us form a governing body for Graven Hill Primary School. The governing body will help with setting up the school and continue the running of the school as it opens and grows.
As is the case for all of our schools, the governing body will be fully supported by the trust's team of governance professionals. They provide:
- Training for all new governors followed by ongoing training (themes include understanding data, the curriculum, the Ofsted inspection framework)
- Setting the agenda for each meeting
- Clerking each meeting
- Chair of governor training
- Policy development
- Governor recruitment support
The positions available on the Academy Committee (governing body) at this time are for Trustee appointed governors, this means the WMAT Trustees will appoint candidates on a skills basis for a 4 year term of office. The principles and personal attributes that individuals bring to the Academy Committee are as important as their skills and knowledge. These qualities enable governors to use their skills and knowledge to function well as part of a team and make an active contribution to effective governance.
Governors are volunteers who play a really important part in ensuring the children receive the very best outcomes during their school career. The governor role is strategic rather than operational, so they don’t get involved in the day to day running of the school, instead supporting and challenging the school and the Trust’s senior leadership team to drive school improvement.
If you are interested in joining the governing body, please complete the application form below. The deadline for applications is 10am on 17th March (to be sent via email to l.hayes@warrinermat.org). Applicants will be notified if they have been appointed by 31st March.
